The Oxford ADT Running Club and the runners and walkers who participated in previous races say "THANKS" to ALL the volunteers who make the State-To-State such a GREAT event! Listed below are the various volunteer opportunities available for 2008. Please click on the links below to get position details. All volunteers will receive a special volunteer t-shirt and are invited to participate in the post race celebration. Free pizza will be provided to volunteers! Description: Post no parking signs along sections of High Street and Contreras. Some sections will need to be posted several days in advance and checked on daily for repairs. Signs on meters will need to be posted around 4 a.m. the morning of the race. Coordinator: Oxford Running Club Staff Time Commitment: Pre-Race duties. As available. What to wear: Dress warm since it will be early morning.
Description: Help prepare race packets with goodies and instruction sheets. Put labels on pre-registered race numbers. Coordinator: Registration Director Time Commitment: Friday before race Sunday (late afternoon or early evening). Shift of 3-4 hours. What to wear: This will be done
indoors, so wear whatever is comfortable.
Description: Set-up tents and tables before the Family Expo and again on race morning. Similarly, take down the tents after the expo and after the races on Sunday. Coordinator: Oxford Running Club Staff Time Commitment: Saturday before race day (11:00 - 12:00 p.m. & 5:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.). Race Day - Sunday (5:00 - 6:00 a.m. & 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.) Shifts of 1 hour. What to wear: You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt
to be worn during your shift(s).
Description: Watch over a big tent that will be left up in the Uptown parks overnight. Coordinator: Oxford Running Club Staff Time Commitment: Saturday before race day at 8:00 p.m. through Sunday, the 18th at 5:00 a.m.. Shifts of 2-4 hours. What to wear: Dress warm
since it will be overnight. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
Description: Assist with registration and packet pickup.   You will have your choice to work with either pre-registered particpants or those who need to register. Those who pre-registered only need to pick up their race number and packet. Those who are registering, will need to pay, have their race number filled out, and pick up their packet. There may also be a separate area for the 5K and kids fun run registration. Coordinator: Registration Director Time Commitment: Saturday before race day(12:00 - 5:00 p.m.) and/or Sunday (Race Day) 6:00 - 8:00 a.m.) and as available. Shifts of 2-4 hours. What to wear: You
will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to be worn during your shift(s).
You will be sitting down most of the time.
Position: Set-up/Clean-up Crews Description: Assist Race directors and coordinators in setting up and tearing down the start and finish lines. Other duties may include loading/unloading supplies from trucks, hauling tables, trash, etc. Coordinator: Race Directors or other Time Commitment: Several hours before/after Expo on Saturday before Race Day and/or several hours before/after race on Sunday. What to wear: You
will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to be worn during your shift(s).
Wear comfortable shoes because you will be on your feet.
Position: Uptown Runner Control Volunteers Description: Show runners where to go on race morning. Line up the runners in their designated areas, and clean up the area after the race begins. May help with kids fun runs. Enjoy yourself! Coordinator: Runner Control Crew Chief or Start/Finish Director Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: Runner
Control Volunteers will be provided a volunteer t-shirt to wear on race
day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Traffic Control/Parking Volunteers Description: Provide traffic control, direct runners to the Uptown parks, and clean up after the race begins. Specific jobs may be coordinated with the Oxford Police Dept. Coordinator: Traffic Control/Parking Crew Chief and OPD Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race day. Crew chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear:
You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to wear on race
day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Course Monitor Volunteers Description: Assigned a designated area to monitor along the course. Responsible for keeping the course safe for the runners (running area clear of pedestrians, spectators, cars, etc. Each monitor is provided an orange safety vest and caution sign. The safety vest must be worn, and the caution sign is used to alert oncoming traffic and pedestrians of your presence. In case of an emergency, course monitors should contact the crew chief in that designated area. Enjoy yourself and cheer on the runners! Coordinator: Crew Chief in that specific area or Course Director. Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Course Monitors meet at a predetermined location on the course on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: Course
Monitors will be provided a volunteer t-shirt to wear on race day.

Position: Course Timer Volunteers Description: Call out splits along the course. Coordinator: Timer Crew Chief or Course Director Time Commitment: A maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: Timers will be provided a volunteer t-shirt to wear on race day. Dress for the
weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Aid Station Load & Delivery Volunteer Description: Pick-up and deliver supplies to each aid-station. Need truck or vehicle appropriate for hauling equipment and people. Coordinator: Water/Aid Station Director Time Commitment: A maximum of 6 hours on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: You will be provided a volunteer t-shirt to wear
on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Finish/Recovery Area Volunteers Description: Remove tags from runners, hand out medals and ribbons to runners, direct runners out of the chute to water and food. Coordinator: Finish Line Crew Chief or Start/Finish Director Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: You will be provided with a volunteer
t-shirt to wear on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Finish Area Security Volunteer Description: Monitor designated area for problems, answer directional questions, ensure that runners and spectators are able to get to where they need to be without interfering with the race. Coordinator: Finish Area Security Crew Chief or Start/Finish Director Time Commitment: A maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Report to finish area on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: Finish You will be provided a volunteer t-shirt but will
be asked to wear a security t-shirt on race day. Dress for the weather
and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Food and Drink Table Volunteers Description: Responsible for setting up and maintaining food and drink tables and communicating needs to Crew Chief. Coordinator: Water/Aid Station Director Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Crew Chief will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to wear
on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: T-shirt Sales Volunteers Description:Responsible for setting up and distributing/selling t-shirts, etc. to runners. Coordinator: Registration Director Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours during Expo on Saturday and/or on race day. Coordinator will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear:
You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to wear
on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Description: Volunteers needed to handle small medical emergencies with EMT/Ambulance/MD on call or on site for larger emergencies. In charge of first aide station table at start/finish area. Coordinator: Medical Director Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours during on race morning. Coordinator will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear:
You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to wear
on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Entertainment/Music Support Volunteers Description: Assist entertainment set up and clean up and aid in comminications or needs for these groups along the course and at the Uptown parks during Expo and Post Race. Coordinator: Entertainment Director Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours during Expo on Saturday and/or on race morning. Coordinator will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: You will be provided with a volunteer t-shirt to wear
on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Amateur (Ham) Radio Operators Description: Aide in communication for the event in prime locations. Coordinate communications in the event of an emergency or other unusual circumstances. Non-critical communications include lead runner positions and supply requests. Coordinator: Communications Director Time Commitment: A maximum of 5 hours on race morning. Director will provide specific meeting time and location. Equipment Commitment: Supply your own radio equipment (usually HT) and accessories appropriate to your assignment. What to wear: You will be provided a volunteer t-shirt
to wear on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Race Clean up Volunteers Description: Stay after the race to help put away tables, pick up trash, pack up equipment, direct traffic, etc. Coordinator: All Directors Time Commitment: A maximum of 3 hours after the race. Director will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: You will be provided a volunteer t-shirt
to wear on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Description: Provide a bag and storage location for participant's extra clothes, sweats, shoes, etc. Help participants mark their bags with their name and race number. Coordinator: Aid Station Director Time Commitment: A maximum of 6 hours on race day. Director will provide specific meeting time and location. What to wear: You will be provided a volunteer t-shirt
to wear on race day. Dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
